01What Is a Token?
A token is the basic unit of AI processing. Think of it as a syllable of thought. When you ask MidasBot a question, your question is broken into tokens (input), processed by the AI, and the response is generated as tokens (output).
Rule of thumb: 1 token ≈ ¾ of a word. 1,000 tokens ≈ 750 words. A typical page of text is about 500-600 tokens.
Input tokens = what you send to the AI (your question, the context, system instructions).
Output tokens = what the AI generates back (the response, the blog post, the analysis).
